Ageing quietly sets sail in your mid-20s, but with our guidance, you can take the helm and chart a course to slow it down. Read more
Embarking on the journey of healthy ageing often becomes an afterthought, with many individuals deferring their attention to it until their 50s or beyond. Yet, unfortunately, our bodies initiate the ageing process as early as our 20s. Consider collagen production, which begins to dwindle in our early 20s, resulting not only in the appearance of wrinkles but also impacting our joint health. In our late 30s to early 40s, we experience sarcopenia, leading to muscle loss, and in our 60s, vitamin B12 absorption decreases, contributing to age-related health issues. Coenzyme Q10 an antioxidant that our body endogenously produces for cell growth and maintenance, but unfortunately past our 20s our body makes less and less.
These are but a few of the gradual transformations that quietly influence many processes and functions over the years. The earlier we start to address our biological age, the better and the simple fact you are reading this means you have already taken the first important step.
Before I reveal strategies to combat these natural ageing processes, let me plant a thought.
Did you know that certain jellyfish species can completely regenerate cells and, theoretically, live forever? As long as they avoid infections and predators, these remarkable creatures, known as 'immortal jellyfish,' can achieve indefinite lifespans. And why can't humans age in reverse like Benjamin Button? Well, I firmly believe it's only a matter of time before cellular scientists offer advice on dramatically extending our life expectancy. After all, our DNA shares surprising similarities with both jellyfish and Greenland sharks who are known to live up to 500 years!
What if you could reach the age of 120 without chronic illness or drug dependency and with your mental and physical faculties intact? I believe it's possible. As scientists delve deeper into cellular biology, the extraordinary lifespans of jellyfish and sharks may become closer to reality for humans, and that's something to be excited about!
At Health Results, our focus on healthy aging revolves around what we eat, sleep, and exercise and integrating scientific evidence and research to achieve profound anti-ageing effects. We closely follow the 'information theory of ageing,' which suggests that "decreased functionality of the whole organism and its systems result from decreased functionality of cellular repair mechanisms."
It implies that ageing is due to the loss of cellular information over time. But what if we could recover or, at the very least, delay this loss? Through proper nutrition, quality sleep, regular physical activity, and, importantly, minimising exposure to chemicals, we believe you can!
Imagine being able to slow down the ageing process significantly. We believe it's achievable because your DNA blueprint for youth remains within you, even as you grow older (by the way, we don't say "old" but "older" – there's no such thing as being old).
What if we could reset the ageing clock and prevent cells from losing their identity? What if we could live longer, akin to sharks, or continually regenerate parts of ourselves by halting cell senescence (the point at which cells lose their ability to reproduce)?
The key question is: How can we reprogram our cells for a longer, healthier life? To do this, we need to find ways to encourage ageing cells to revisit their DNA blueprint. Navigating the complexities of how to do this may sound daunting, but we can simplify it through three guiding principles:
Of course, healthy ageing encompasses much more, and with Health Results you’re in the right place to explore the latest ideas and research for maximising your years and unlocking your true potential.
Promoting healthy ageing is at the heart of our mission. While our extensive range of products, courses, and supplements can contribute significantly to this journey, I’ve distilled the top 15 essentials tailored to your needs. While I take other supplements for other reasons, all the ones featured here and the topical products too, I incorporate them into my daily routine primarily to slow the ageing process. I have also listed them in order of what I consider the min priorities.
Health Reset Course: Kickstart your anti-ageing campaign with our comprehensive Health Reset Course. Uncover the dangers of ultra-processed foods and embark on a transformative journey that not only aids in weight loss but also leaves you feeling decades younger.
HRM Home Kit: Monitor your progress with the HRM Home Kit, a vital tool for tracking your biological markers. Easily measure blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose levels, and more. The accompanying health results app provides an overall metabolic score, allowing you to adjust your diet and lifestyle for optimum anti-aging results.
MARS Exercise Programme: Staying active is crucial in the fight against ageing. Our Movement Aerobics Resistance Stance (MARS) program, designed by double gold Olympian James Cracknell and our expert fitness team, focuses on long-term fitness and longevity, providing all the necessary equipment and lifetime access.
MYVIT: Discover personalised nutrition with MyVIT, a tailored multivitamin multimineral solution. By answering nine questions, you receive a unique combination of vitamins and minerals essential for healthy aging.
Omega 3: Support your brain, joints, and heart health with Omega 3 supplements. This essential oil is particularly vital as we age.
CoEnzyme Q10: As we grow older, our bodies produce less Coenzyme Q10, a crucial substance for converting food into energy and battling free radicals. Taking CoQ10 supplements can help maintain energy levels and protect cells.
Resveratrol: Derived from red wine, Resveratrol has gained attention for its potential health benefits. It acts as a powerful antioxidant and supports healthy ageing, contributing to longevity. Thanks to scientists, particularly Dr David Sinclair, author of the brilliant book Lifespan, Why We Age and Why We Don’t Have Too, we are beginning to discover more of its unique benefits.
Fibrehydrate: There is plenty of research to suggest that ensuring that we have enough fibre in the diet helps us live more healthily. According to The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, consuming 35g of fibre was associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease by as much as 54% and death from all causes by 37%. Plus, as one of the key things for healthy ageing is to avoid insulin resistance, replacing wheat-based pasta, noodles and spaghetti with fibre-made alternatives makes sense.
Now I could have listed all our topical products, which are natural alternatives to the mass-produced chemical-laden products on the market. Still, I thought I would focus on just three of them, that most people use what I believe to be hugely detrimental products on a daily basis.
Natural Shampoo: Our sulphate and silicone-free shampoos preserve your scalp's natural balance by avoiding harmful additives. Say goodbye to parabens, SLES/SLS, and synthetic preservatives.
Natural Deodorant: Some 15 years before I got into researching health, one the last things my auntie told me before she so tragically passed away in her mid-50s, was to avoid deodorant and antiperspirant, as she was convinced that was likely the cause of her cancer. She told me “Do not I repeat do not, use aluminium under your armpits”. Instead, if you feel like you need to apply something, it is important always to use an all-natural deodorant.
Anti-Ageing Cream: It really baffles me how there are so many creams on the market that while claiming to help us look more useful, are laden with chemicals. That said, of course, there are multiple benefits of keeping the skin moist and hydrated. Plus, while many believe that vitamins only have an effect when taken orally, many of them, especially vitamins A and E, help slow the ageing process when applied topically.
Collagen: As we age, the body makes less and less collagen. Yet it’s the most abundant protein in the human body, and as well as helping us minimise wrinkly skin, it plays a part in our joints, ligaments and much more. As Dr Malcolm Kendrick says,” Collagen acts as scaffolding in many parts of the body”. As well as consuming lots of bone broth and offal, taking it exogenously in a supplement is beneficial.
Magnesium: Ensure over 300 bodily functions operate smoothly with magnesium supplementation. With soil depletion, magnesium-rich foods are scarcer, making supplementation a valuable addition, especially for quality sleep, a key element in healthy ageing.
