with Dr James DiNicolantonio
The first thing your doctor is going to tell you to do is lower your salt intake. They don't really tell you that salt is an essential mineral, not to go too low – they just give you a blanket statement "lower your salt intake".
Now, I was having a lot of patients coming up to me saying, 'Dr James, I don't feel very good, I feel dizzy and lightheaded. Especially when I go from a seated to a standing position.' I sort of pushed back and said, tell your Doctor the symptoms that you're having, maybe get your soduim levels checked. A lot of times their sodium levels in their blood were low, and their doctor would tell them to start eating more salt, and they instantly started feeling better.
